Vanguard has become the best shareholder of the strategy (MSTR) in a small number of tops. The $ 10 trillion asset manager now owns more than 20 million MSTR stocks. This adds almost 8%of the class A stock of the strategy. Bang Guard warned that Bitcoin was “immature” and “no unique economic value.” Now it is deeply tied to Bitcoin Play of Michael Saylor.
Index strategy at work
According to the Bloomberg Report, Vanguard did not lean back the movement of Saylor. Simply follow the index fund rules. When Strategy’s stock rises, it is bigger in the company’s tracking indexes. Result: Vanguard had to buy more stocks.
The asset manager ended with hundreds of millions of dollars through a wide range of funds. It shows how a passive strategy can lead to an active position in an unexpected place.
Tim Buckley, the CEO of Vanguard, once said, “Bitcoin can confuse the portfolio.” He argued that the main encryption lacks the history and solid evidence that long -term investors need.
However, VANGUARD’s own index weighting record means that you can’t be ashamed of increasing stocks. Regardless of the fund’s view of Bitcoin, the rules touched their hands.
Indirect bitcoin exposure increases
The strategy now has 601,550 BTC. Each part of the MSTR represents the sculpture of the huge bitcoin dummy. Anyone who has an index of the Vanguard is indirectly exposed to more than 500,000 coins.
Since 2020, MSTR stocks have increased by about 3,400%. This surge has helped to push the company’s market value quickly enough to land on VANGUARD’s highest stake.
Large investors often get Bitcoin exposure using ETFs or destinations. VANGUARD was able to join people like Blackrock when launching Spot Bitcoin ETF. But it refused.
Instead, it finds a big strategy. It is the unconscious part of the Bitcoin story, even if the company’s administrator is not originally selected.

Transfer of institutional sponsorship signals
Michael Saylor thinks this is a signal that the organs are returning to Bitcoin. He told Bloomberg a stake in VANGUARD as a “powerful signal.”
For many years, many large companies have treated Bitcoin as niche assets. Now they are tied to their property through public stocks of strategy. The change can encourage others to take a closer look.
Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas summarizes X’s irony, saying, “God has a sense of humor.” He pointed out that Vanguard’s index approach means that he must own all the stocks of the benchmark.
