Fusaka, the next major update to Ethereum, was successfully launched on Holesky Testnet today, bringing you a step closer to the mainnet transition.
Arrived just a few months after the Pectra update, Fusaka Hard Fork aims to make Ethereum more affordable, especially for enterprise users. Among innovations, Peerdas is the most prominent one. This allows the Valtter to control only a portion of the data block (“blob”) rather than the entire block. This approach reduces the costs of both layer 2 networks and validators.
Holesky was an important testnet launched in 2023 and had a validator structure similar to Ethereum Mainnet. However, the network has experienced reliability issues over the last few months and will be shut down after a Fusaka update. Following the activation of Fusaka on the mainnet, Holesky will be closed within two weeks.
The next round of the test will take place on October 14th and 28th. Once these phases are complete, the developer will announce the final decision regarding the launch date of Fusaka’s mainnet.
“Holesky is perfect! This is a great first step towards Fusaka’s mainnet transition and the more chunks of Ethereum,” Parisosh Jayanti, Devop’s engineer at the Ethereum Foundation, said at X.
