Controversial Bitcoin developer Luke Dash Jr. claims he is tired of personally saving Bitcoin “every few years”.
“Even if we survive the Core30 attack, we need to stop this situation where I personally have to save my Bitcoin every few years,” Dashjr said in a recent social media post.
According to Dashjr, Bitcoin cannot survive if it relies on just one person, so other developers need to step up.
Did Dashjr actually save me Bitcoin?
Despite his fringe and extreme ideological views, Dashjr is often credited with “saving” Bitcoin multiple times.
In 2013, he was part of an emergency group of developers to quickly fix an inflation bug that caused chain splits between nodes and nearly destroyed trust in the original cryptocurrency.
Dashjr was also a vocal opponent of the SegWit2x hard fork, which would have doubled the block size of major cryptocurrencies. Despite being backed by large mining companies and exchanges, the hard fork ultimately failed.
He also opposed ordinals and inscriptions to prevent UTXO blots. Dashjr claims that he tried to resolve the issue before the unused output spiked, but that he was recovering from the hack at the time.
recent controversy
as U.Today reportedDashjr has recently been embroiled in yet another controversy, with leaked messages allegedly showing plans to launch a hard fork to retroactively change the blockchain with the help of a trusted multisig committee.
Administrators of the Bitcoin Knots client have clashed with Bitcoin Core developers over the decision to remove the default limit on OP_RETURN data. Dasch Jr., a staunch conservative, has been very vocal in his opposition to lifting restrictions.
In response to the backlash, Dashjr dismissed the published messages as “fabricated nonsense.”
