Anthony Scaramucci, founder of SkyBridge Capital, announced on Wednesday that he will be purchasing Bitcoin. BTC$68,386.95 During the market downturn, he described Donald Trump as the “crypto president.”
“So 10 days ago, last week we bought Bitcoin for 84,000 Bitcoin, this week we bought Bitcoin for 63,000 Bitcoin. We are once again buyers of Bitcoin in this market,” Scaramucci said in a conversation with Burish CEO Tom Farley at Consensus Hong Kong.
He added that buying Bitcoin in a downtrending market is like catching a falling knife.
After peaking at over $126,000 in October of this year, Bitcoin has recently plummeted to nearly $60,000. Since then, the price has rebounded slightly to $69,000, with the Bitcoin ETF market showing signs of capitulation.
Scaramucci said that while President Donald Trump is a much better president than his predecessor when it comes to cryptocurrencies, he added that Trump’s geopolitical shenanigans, such as his Greenland ambitions, will encourage rival Democrats to oppose him on a variety of policies, including those that affect digital assets.
“I just want to say that, believe it or not, the Greenland thing is actually tied to industry. If he did something like that, the opposition would be upset to the point of, ‘You know what?’ We don’t want him to win on anything. We’re going to vote against a crypto bill to hurt Donald Trump, even if it means hurting us and decapitating our own horses,” he explained.
When it comes to Layer 1, Scaramucci said programmable blockchain Solana will be one of the companies gathering the largest market share.
