Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao continues to give interviews even after completing his prison sentence in the United States. CZ spoke on the Crypto Banter channel about his experience, calling it a “turning point in my life,” and his vision for the future and personal changes.
CZ said that before going to prison, his lawyer warned him about his biggest fear: “blackmail and extortion.” He added, “The newspapers said I was the richest person to ever go into an American prison.”
CZ said he befriended a former Cisco software engineer who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for 12 bank robberies and discovered that most of the people there were “sensible people.”
CZ, who described being handcuffed and transferred to a detention center just before the end of his sentence as “worst and scarier than prison”, expressed deep distrust of the system and noted that its rules could change at any time.

Although CZ has stepped down from his operational role at Binance, he said he still dedicates 80-90% of his time and money to blockchain technology. He said Bitcoin remains the most powerful store of value and that no technology has yet been discovered that could dethrone it.
CZ predicted that billions of AI agents will make small transactions with each other in the future, arguing that cryptocurrencies are currently an “undervalued asset class” and saying, “What will these agents use? PayPal? No, the only option is blockchain.”
CZ, who believes that Elon Musk is not interested in wealth, offered his theory, half-jokingly, half-seriously: “I think Elon is an alien and wants to go back to his home planet. Mars is just a stepping stone. Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink are actually part of his ticket home.”
