Federally chartered crypto bank Anchorage Digital has acquired the Securitize for Advisors (SFA) business unit from Securitization and brought in-house a crypto asset management platform built for registered investment advisors (RIAs), the company announced in a press release on Monday.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The acquisition formalizes the existing relationship between the two companies. Anchorage Digital Bank already stores 99% of Securitize For Advisors’ client assets, and SFA operates on Anchorage’s infrastructure.
“RIA is driving one of the most important waves of cryptocurrency adoption. By combining Anchorage Digital’s federally regulated custody platform with SFA’s technology and expertise, we are building the best solution for wealth managers and their clients,” Anchorage Digital co-founder and CEO Nathan McCauley said in a release.
The transaction highlights the companies’ existing partnership, giving Anchorage Digital a more defined role in asset management and adding an integrated platform that brings together trading, custody and client-facing tools for advisors, while allowing Securitize to focus on its tokenization business.
Tokenization is the process of converting real-world assets such as stocks, bonds, real estate, private equity, and art into digital tokens recorded on a blockchain.
Securitize co-founder and CEO Carlos Domingo said the move is aimed at allowing Securitize to focus on its core tokenization business while providing more dedicated resources to SFA under Anchorage.
The deal marks Anchorage Digital’s second acquisition in 2025, following its acquisition of stablecoin issuer Mountain Protocol in May.
Launched in 2021, the SFA will allow RIAs to offer digital asset exposure to their clients. Over the past 12 months, the platform’s net new deposits and assets under management have grown more than 4,500%, compared to 16% growth for the RIA industry as a whole, the companies said.
