Ethereum should never go offline, saying its co-founders have marked the network’s 10th anniversary, highlighting its mission to protect its 10-year record of zero downtime and its digital freedom.
During the network’s 10th anniversary live stream, industrial leader Buterin said constant uptime is important to protect digital rights and promote human progress. The blockchain platform celebrated the decade online without a single interruption.
10: 10 years of reliability and growth
Launched on July 30, 2015, Ethereum introduced the world’s first smart contract blockchain. The aim was to provide developers with an open platform for building distributed applications (DAPPs) without intermediaries.
Ethereum Roadmap: From the Impossible to the Inevitable
Additionally, Tim Beiko of Ethereum Foundation reviews the progress of the network and notes the widespread adoption of many innovations once considered unfeasible.
He pointed to the increasing use of zero knowledge technology as a milestone reflecting Ethereum’s work proof, the rise of roll-ups, and the adaptability of networks.
Additionally, Beiko described Ethereum’s broader vision as turning “impossible” ideas into “inevitable” reality. In particular, this includes scaling solutions, secure identity systems, and global financial tools that operate without centralized control.
Community voice and global reach
The livestream featured developers, artists and entrepreneurs from around the world. Projects such as PeopleStreser’s Anime and ZK Passport’s Privacy-focused ID Solutions showed the scope of applications built on Ethereum.
Additionally, co-founder Joseph Rubin highlighted the widespread appeal of Ethereum across ideology and industry, portraying it as a fundamental platform that anyone can freely build as long as they are permitted and continue to resist censorship.
The Evolving Role of the Ethereum Foundation
Shaw and Tomasz, co-executive directors of the Ethereum Foundation, said the foundation is now playing a more supportive role as the community matures. With over 1 million validators spread across 70 countries, Ethereum is becoming increasingly decentralized.
They said the foundation will focus on Steward Ethereum’s core values, privacy, decentralization and user empowerment, while the broader community will lead the next wave of development.
A new decade for Ethereum begins
To mark the anniversary, a symbolic “Ethereum Torch” NFT was handed over to ten contributors, and then burned forever in chains. The ceremony represents both the decentralized history of the network and its ongoing evolution.
As Ethereum enters its second decade, developers say their next priorities include improving user experience, enhancing privacy tools and scaling to serve billions of users. However, one principle has not changed. Ethereum needs to stay online at all times.
Anniversaries don’t promote Ethereum, but analysts cost $400
Meanwhile, as it celebrates its 10th anniversary, ETH is once again approaching its $4,000 resistance zone despite its recent pullback, suggesting that market analyst Benjamin Cowen could ultimately break through. After surged more than 50% over the past month, Ethereum is currently trading at $3,671, a 4.8% decrease in the last 24 hours.
Cowen pointed it out. Ethereum repeatedly failed to clear the $4,000 level I cited three major rejections in March, May and December 2024. He attributed the struggle to a missed retest of key support that Ethereum revised to $1,385 in the April dip.
ETH has since recovered sharply, but is nearly 21% below the all-time high of $4,891 recorded in 2021. Cowen believes this recovery could ultimately overcome the $4,000 barrier and provide the momentum needed to set a new high.
