President Donald Trump officially invited President Naive Buquere, El Salvador, for an official meeting at the White House on April 14th.
Bukele confirmed the development in a post on X’s April 3rd Twitter on April 3rd, revealing that the invitation came directly from the US President on April 1st.
According to details of the invitation, Trump praised Bukere for his solid approach to tackling gang activities and for his cooperation with US immigration enforcement.
The US President specifically acknowledged that El Salvador used a new high-security prison to retain gang members such as MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. Many of them were deported from the United States.
Additionally, Trump described Bukere’s actions as an example of strong leadership and called him an important partner in addressing shared security concerns.
The letter also noted the importance of deepening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in areas such as border control and public safety.
In particular, the invitation came days after Bukel suggested his willingness to visit the White House.
At the time, Bukel joked that he was referring to “some cans of diet cola.”

The invitation did not refer to Bitcoin, but upcoming meetings sparked speculation in the crypto community.
Both Trump and Bukere are strong supporters of Bitcoin and have played an important role in promoting global adoption.
Under Bukkel’s leadership, El Salvador became the first country to make Bitcoin a fiat currency, currently exceeding 6,130 BTC. The government has also received extensive praise for educating citizens on emerging technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, the US has taken steps to formalize its approach to digital assets, and recently announced the establishment of the National Bitcoin Reserve.
Given the Pro-Bitcoin stance of both leaders, industry observers believe digital currency could be discussed at the April 14 meeting. They believe that joint statements and policy changes could affect global sentiment regarding BTC adoption and regulation.
