World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a Defi project partially owned by US President Donald Trump’s family, has begun offloading several Ethereum holdings amid recent price struggles.
On April 9, citing data from Arkham Intelligence, Blockchain Analysis Platform Lookonchain reported that Defi Venture-linked wallets sold 5,471 ETH for around $8.01 million with an average price of $1,465.
The sale marks a major setback for the company considering WLFI previously spent $210 million to accumulate 67,498 ETH at an average of $3,259 per coin.
Based on current prices, Lookonchain said the company is staring at an unrealized loss of around $125 million.
World Liberty Financial has not yet publicly commented on these sales.
Meanwhile, the sale reflects broader concerns in the Ethereum market.
Over the past week, ETH has fallen below $1,500 amid a yearly revision. The current price of ETH is currently below realized price, causing concern to investors
Market analysts believe the recession is partly due to geopolitical tensions, including the ongoing Trump tariff dispute that has caused uncertainty in traditional and crypto markets.
DWF Labs invests $25 million in WLFI tokens
Despite the ETH recession, WLFI has secured a significant vote of trust from DWF Labs.
Onchain data shared by pseudonym Crypto analyst AI_9684XTPA revealed that Web3 market makers are subscribing to 250 million WLFI tokens for $25 million.
According to analysts, the rating is almost seven times the original offer price of $0.015, with the second second interest rate of $0.05.
Especially after LookonChain reported that DWF Labs received USD1 million, it was received by Stablecoin, which was launched by a Trump-supported project to create the market.
USD1 is designed to be a fully secured stablecoin that maintains a 1:1 peg in USD.
The digital assets have been attracting considerable attention since their launch, and WLFI recently submitted a proposal to the AirDrop USD1 to the token holder. The initiative aims to test WLFI distribution models and reward early adopters ahead of the public deployment of Stablecoin.
