Decentralized Exchange Hyperquid has reimbursed nearly $2 million to users affected by last week’s short outage.
The Hyperliquid Platform’s Application Programming Interface (API) was suspended on Tuesday. This allowed traders to bystanders to run their orders for about 37 minutes before restarting the operation.
On Monday, Hyperliquid issued a total of $1.99 million refunds at USDC (USDC) to affected users, on-chain data from Pherpurrscan’s show.
Hyperliquid’s quick response and $2 million repayment after a 30-minute suspension were praised by users.
“Over $1.5 million has already been sent to users (you can see it),” said Hyperliquid Trader Aaalex on Monday’s X-Post. “It’s incredible considering they don’t have legal obligations, contracts, or SLAs,” he added.

Handling of high liquid situations occurs as distributed exchanges (DEX) become more competitive with concentrated platforms despite recent set-offs. In March, the platform received a $6.26 million exploit, including Jelly Mijerry (Jelly) Memecoin, due to a vulnerability in liquidation parameters.
According to data from Coingecko, high lipids have grown into the seventh largest derivative exchange in the world, raising open interest for over 24 hours of 24 hours and open interest for over 24 hours of 24 hours.

High lipid arrest caused by traffic spikes rather than exploits
The outage raised initial concerns about potential hacks or exploits, but Hyperliquid said the issue was caused by a “severe surge in traffic” after the platform surpassed its $14.7 billion record high on July 23.
“Orders have been delayed as API servers experience a massive surge in traffic during 14:10-14:47 UTC on July 29th,” Hyperliquid said in a telegram announcement Monday.
“The API returned an error response despite the transaction being sent to Mempool and later included in the block,” the announcement said, adding that it began paying back to the affected traders based on three categories.
However, users over $10,000 must complete customer (KYC) verification for a full refund. These users have already received a $9,999 refund, but they will need to complete the verification process through their Discord tickets to receive the remaining funds by August 18th.
