The launch of Boundless’Incentivized TestNet marks the first real stress test for Crypto’s production-ready zero-knowledge infrastructure. The scramble has officially begun to operate ZK proofs across the chain as early adopters, with the Ethereum Foundation and Eigenlayer as early adopters.
According to a press release shared with Crypto.News on July 15, Boundless Network will deploy its mainnet beta on Coinbase’s base blockchain, introducing what is called the first “universal” zero recognition protocol.
Boasted by RISC Zero’s ZKVM, the incentive testnet has already been joined by major players, including the Ethereum Foundation, Wormhole and Eigenlayer.
The rollout also introduces verifiable proof of work. This introduces a new mechanism that rewards participants to generate and validate ZK proofs and effectively creates a distributed market for computational integrity.

The mechanic behind Boundless ‘Zero-knowledge Gambit
Boundless is positioned as a decentralized market that converges on computations that can be verified by blockchains, developers and miners. The ZKVM-equipped protocol from RISC Zero acts as a universal proof layer, allowing any chain to offload complex calculations while maintaining encryption certainty.
Think of it as an unreliable outsourcing hub. Instead of all blockchains checking the same data redundantly, they can now share proofs across the network.
Infinite beta releases are important. This is important for the first time because the ZK system has been tested under real economic conditions. Previous implementations such as ZKEVMS, co-processors, and privacy chains operate on their own. Boundless incentivizes a network of distributed proof generators and validators to overturn scripts and creates a live marketplace for zero-knowledge calculations.
“MainNet Beta uses a protocol on the blockchain to access a best-in-class distributed ZK infrastructure with Boundless powered by Boundless,” said the CEO of Boundless Network.
Verifiable work proof
At the heart of the endless ‘beta is evidence of verifiable work and a fundamental departure from traditional mining. POVW rewards participants for validating zero knowledge proofs within ZKVM. Whether an agency miner or an independent operator, high-performance GPU owners can now earn a fee by verifying the integrity of the calculation, rather than a hash that reinforces the brute.
In addition to adjusting incentives, this mechanism could restructure Crypto’s labor economy. By proving reward complexity and speed, Boundless creates a meritocratic system where the most efficient miners earn the most.
Early participants will also receive a $ZKC allocation for Boundless’ native token before it officially launches later this year. The exact distribution depends on the complexity, volume and speed of the completed proof. According to a press release, the $ZKC token generation event is scheduled for the second half of 2025.
