- As part of the European Blockchain PCP, IOTA’s efforts include key advancements in tokenized KYC, intellectual property rights management and digital product passports.
- We also implemented a secure Know Customer (KYC) solution for our Decentralized Financial (DEFI) ecosystem.
IOTA Blockchain is at the forefront of the EU blockchain revolution and is building cutting-edge solutions for businesses operating in the region. Last year, the IOTA Foundation successfully concluded a pre-profit procurement (PCP) project funded by the European Commission, as stated in a previous report.
The initiative focuses on designing innovative distributed ledger technology (DLT) solutions for Europe. As part of the project, the foundation developed advanced product solutions, introducing scalability and sustainability. In addition to this, blockchain is also working on some of its other major lighthouse projects, including tokenization KYC, intellectual property management, and digital passports. Let’s take a look at each of these.
IOTA implements secure KYC solutions for Defi applications
IOTA has announced a new Know Customer (KYC) solution aimed at enhancing safety and security within the distributed finance (DEFI) ecosystem. An innovative system allows users to authenticate their identity without disclosing their personal information, significantly reducing the risk of identity theft and fraud.
The solution is designed to ensure regulatory compliance while enhancing the user experience by seamlessly integrating the KYC process into Web3 applications. This development is an important step in creating a safe and user-friendly defi environment. As mentioned in a previous post, it was also part of the Tradetech Forum 2025, which was held recently in the UAE.
Development of DLT solutions to simplify intellectual property payments
IOTA has introduced a prototype solution that leverages distributed ledger technology (DLT) and smart contracts to address the issues of transparency and payments in intellectual property management.
The new system aims to streamline the process for artists and rights holders by utilizing automated, transparent digital contracts. This innovation simplifies rights management, ensures accurate tracking and validation of revenue, and improves the overall user experience.
By addressing the longstanding challenges in payment transparency, IOTA’s solutions provide a more equitable system for rights holders of digital media environments.
Working with digital passport products
IOTA has announced the development of a Digital Product Passport (DPP) solution designed to promote sustainability and support the circular economy. These DPPs are created as part of the European Pre-Blockchain Commercial Procurement (PCP) initiative and provide detailed product information to promote recycling, reuse and repairs.
As mentioned earlier, IOTA-equipped DPP systems are tailored to plastic and electronic products with the aim of reducing waste, expanding product lifecycles and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. By enabling seamless access to product data, this innovation contributes to more sustainable production and consumption practices across the industry.
