Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) digital series has announced that it will return to the real estate platform from April 9th to 12th, with an emphasis on digital fashion as a means of exploring identity, culture and self-expression. This year’s theme, “Infinite Identities,” emphasizes Decentraland as the third space. It is an open virtual environment beyond traditional fashion week and centralized platforms where creativity can flourish without being limited by industry norms and physical constraints. In this area, avatars become a dynamic representation of personal identity, providing an opportunity to explore self-identity in ways that traditional settings do not allow.
“Metaverse Fashion Week 2025 isn’t just about style. It helps to redefine identity, creative freedom and cultural expression when personal agents seem increasingly questionable,” said Bay Backner, head producer and curator at MPOST. “A virtual world like Decentraland offers us all a significant third space. Digital fashion is rapidly emerging as a tool for storytelling, self-expression and change. MVFW is the only place where designers, brands, stylists, educators, activists and fashion enthusiasts meet at the forefront of this movement, and is a truly international platform for dialogue, innovation and cultural exchange, along with Decentraland’s audiences in over 160 countries,” she added.
MVFW 2025 features a blend of digital and physical first brands, featuring an evolving connection between online and offline fashion through runway shows. The event will also highlight a theme runway presentation that explores how wear affects identity, culture and self-expression in a virtual space. Virtual showrooms highlight designers using fashion to challenge conventions, regain expression, and overcome real-world barriers to creative freedom.
As part of the event, attendees will have the opportunity to explore how wearables act as symbols of identity, resilience and activity. They can join a global community focused on creativity and self-expression beyond physical limitations, connect with emerging designers who present bold collections that challenge tradition, reflect who they are, and build digital identities with ambitious wearables.

Additionally, MVFW 2025 will host its first MVFW Awards competition, “The Banners We We Deat,” inviting students and recent alumni to turn virtual fashion into a powerful statement of identity, resilience and hope. Designers create wearable banners as expressions of themselves in an age where individual freedom is under pressure. The victory design will be featured on the main MVFW runway, awarded a $15,000 prize pool and created as a stock wearable.
“Through this year’s major competition, “The Banner We Wear” Decentraland offers a $15,000 prize pool for new creators to design statements of identity and hope. “With the launch of Decentraland’s new desktop client, MVFW 2025 is more immersive, seamless and accessible than ever. It brings you closer to a future that surpasses the self-expression of a virtual space, or the physical world,” she added.
After a year’s break, MVFW returns to a critical moment when self-expression is increasingly challenging. In a world where personal freedom is scrutinized, platforms like Decentraland provide an environment where you can explore your identity without restrictions.
With the launch of Decentraland 2.0, virtual worlds are more immersive and offer more dialogue and creative freedom in digital fashion. The timing of MVFW 2025 is consistent with a shift in fashion views, particularly with the audiences of Gen Z and Digital-Native. For these groups, fashion is not just about trends, but also about identity, ethics and community building.
This year, MVFW will be performing a central staging of these evolving conversations, presenting a dynamic space where the future of fashion is shaped in real time.
