Monad, a Layer 1 blockchain, confirmed in a post on X that its long-awaited token airdrop will take place next week.
The airdrop claims portal is scheduled to open on October 14th, but Monad’s team has not yet disclosed information about airdrop allocations.
Monad positions itself as a high-performance layer 1 chain with EVM compatibility. Although the upcoming airdrop marks a step towards the launch of native tokens, there are no concrete details on how the tokens will be distributed, so the community continues to maintain a holding pattern and wait for the next update.
The news comes as decentralized perpetual exchange HyperLiquid listed the MON-USD Hyperp early Wednesday, allowing traders to take long or short positions in the native token ahead of general distribution.
Based on the hyper-liquidity trade of the MON-USD hyperp, trading at a price around $0.12, Monad has a fully diluted valuation (FDV) of nearly $12 billion, with 100 billion MON tokens scheduled to be distributed via airdrop.
