The tokenized real-world assets (RWA) market exploded to over $24 billion by June 2022 from $5 billion in 2022, marking RWA as the second growing sector to regularly grow 380%.
Onchain Finance Transforms: RWA has reached $24 billion, led by tokenized finance and credit
According to a comprehensive report from Redstone, the 85% year-on-year expansion reflects a critical shift from experimental pilots to expanded institutional adoption, according to a co-authored by Gauntlet and RWA.Xyz. Major financial institutions such as BlackRock, JPMorgan and Franklin Templeton are currently deploying production-grade solutions, and the government is increasingly recognizing blockchain as a critical infrastructure for modernizing legacy systems.
The tokenized US Treasury exemplifies this institutional momentum, swelling from $100 million in 2023 to $7.5 billion. BlackRock’s Buidl fund issued by Securitize controls the segment with assets of $2.9 billion. However, private credit is the largest RWA category of $14 billion and is driven by a tradable platform that tokenizes loans on diagrams and blockchains from the ZKSYNC era.
Commodity tokenization reached $1.6 billion, led by Tokens Paxg ($851 million) with gold-backed support from Paxos and Tether’s Xaut ($679 million). Equity tokenization gained traction in the early stages at $365 million through partnerships such as Exodus-Securities’ $900 million Algorand-based offering.
The integration of RWA into distributed finance (DEFI) unlocks new use cases. Platforms such as Securitize’s Stoken Framework allow regulated assets to act as collateral for Defi, while Morpho V2 offers fixed rate loans tailored for institutions. Spark Protocol and Pendle Citadels further bridge traditional finance (TRADFI) with Onchain Ingle Strategies.
Professional blockchain Oracles, such as Redstone’s RWA pricing solutions, address unique challenges such as net asset value (NAV) calculations and illiquidity adjustments. In 2025, blockchain protocol Ethereum remains the dominant RWA chain ($7.5 billion), followed by ZKSYNC ERA ($2.2 billion) and Solana ($351 million).
Industry forecasts show that 10-30% of global assets could be tokenized between 2030 and 2034, potentially over $400 trillion in Tradfi value can be bridged into the on-chain ecosystem.
