Step 2 rollout
Based on the report, the first step will be released later this year. Then, if you are approved, all eligible sellers can live by 2026. In other words, millions of square users can add bitcoin to checkout with credit cards and cash. This is a big stage of the tool that many small shops are already using.

From the conversion to the checkout
First, the merchant will turn some of the daily take into Bitcoin by 2024. Now they will raise the encryption forward. If the customer pays, the app in the Square will handle the exchange rate and confirmation. The store will appear faster. And customers with Bitcoin use them without any additional steps.

Block does not stop when paying. The cash app has been able to purchase, sell and send Bitcoin for years. Then there is a Vicky that started in March 2024, so there is a self -use wallet with no demanding seed phrases.
Soon we will add more powerful personal information protection and smarter recovery tools, including how to deliver funds to heirs. There is also a proto mining gear and an spiral that supports the Bitcoin project. They are dealing with buildings with purchases, storage, expenses, and even Bitcoin.

The merchant will still face price fluctuations by choosing to hold Bitcoin. But automatic conversion remains an option. And if you have Lightning Network, you can reduce costs and 2% –3% credit card fees.
On the other hand, regulators will monitor closely. Approvals can vary from region to region. But if everything goes according to the plan, shoppers can see the new “Bitcoin” button on the square screen in early 2026.
In the early days, this looks like a real test for Bitcoin’s original peer -to -peer idea. Some welcome low fees and fast payment. Others will wait and see if it is attached. Either way, small shops will soon have a new way to get paid.
