In a recent social media post, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz revealed that he mined a total of 250 Bitcoins in the early days of cryptocurrency.
This comes after users share an image of Schwartz wearing the red “Bitcoin Miner” T-shirt.
Schwartz first got involved in Bitcoin in 2011. By the time he discovered Bitcoin, Nakamoto at, the mysterious creator of major cryptocurrencies, had already left his final message.
“I bought it from someone who promoted it on the early Bitcoin forums. It was cool to use Bitcoin to buy something,” recalls Schwartz.
Ripple Executive in 2023 Recognised That he hoped he had discovered cryptocurrency before. He said he couldn’t see the price of BTC dropping to $2.50.
According to X’s latest post, when Schwartz began mining, Bitcoin was already worth around $30.
Last April, Schwartz revealed that he had sold Bitcoin Holdings to buy XRP and Ethereum (ETH).
There was also (or rather unfounded) speculation that Ripples CTO was Nakamoto at. However, Schwartz dispelled such rumors on various occasions.
“I had to be atshi with almost every skill set. It’s certainly plausible that I’m part of the group. But nonetheless, that’s not true. I didn’t know about Bitcoin until 2011,” Schwartz tweeted in 2021.
Schwartz has repeatedly criticised Bitcoin, focusing on its high energy consumption and scalability issues stemming from its Proof of Work (POW) consensus algorithm.
