European institutional investors can now subscribe to and redeem holdings in regulated money market funds using the following methods: stable coin Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) announced on June 30 that it has connected its payments infrastructure to Spiko, a European fintech company that provides tokenized exposure to short-term U.S. Treasury investments through regulated money market funds.
The development represents what the companies characterize as Europe’s first UCITS fund to accept on-chain funds through Eurocoin ($EURC) and USD coin ($USDC), enabling near-instantaneous payment functionality.
Coinbase says:
“In a breakthrough, a first for Europe, investors can now move in and out of regulated investment trusts (UCITS) almost instantly. stable coin”
The cryptocurrency exchange explained that the service runs on Base, a layer 2 blockchain network created by Coinbase, and supports Spiko’s EU T-Bills Money Market Fund and Spiko US T-Bills Money Market Fund. The companies noted that this setup will allow investors to continuously transition between stablecoins and short-term U.S. Treasury investments, including over weekends and holidays.
Stablecoin payments aim to reduce settlement delays in institutional treasury operations
The companies said the new payment model goes beyond the tokenization of investment products and improves the way investors access and withdraw regulated funds. Coinbase portrayed stablecoin-backed treasury management as a system that allows capital to flow in and out of regulated T+0 assets without relying on traditional bank clearinghouses.

According to Coinbase, investors can enter the fund at any time using: $USDC or $EURC Receive your redemption payment within minutes. The company further noted that its wallet infrastructure meets institutions’ security and compliance expectations and facilitates the transfer of high-value capital through automated API integration.
“More broadly, we believe this is a core example of the future payments infrastructure for mutual funds and the broader financial system,” Coinbase emphasized, explaining that the integration is part of a broader transition to real-time, on-chain financial infrastructure.
