KuCoin institutional investor and custody provider Ceffu today announced a strategic partnership in which the two companies will enhance the security, compliance, and operational infrastructure available to professional crypto investors. The agreement reinforces KuCoin Institutional’s commitment to building a “trust first” custody ecosystem and signals the companies’ intention to develop future product integrations for institutional investors.
KuCoin Institutional, a division of the exchange focused on funds, corporate clients and high-net-worth investors, said the partnership builds on previous work with licensed custodians and aims to provide financial institutions with stronger asset protection and clearer separation of operations. The companies say the partnership will enable financial institutions to maintain control of their holdings and trade with confidence while ensuring regulatory and governance standards are met.
“Institutional trust starts with infrastructure, which is the foundation of security, transparency and compliance at every level,” said BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin. He explained that the agreement with Ceffu is an enhancement to KuCoin Institutional’s custody roadmap and a step toward allowing customers to access global markets with “institutional-level security measures.”
Ceffu CEO Ian Loh framed this transaction as a natural extension of his company’s mission. “Security is not a feature, it is the foundation upon which institutions are built,” Lo said, noting Ceffu’s focus on providing a custody infrastructure that meets rigorous security and compliance benchmarks. The company is ISO 27001 and 27701 certified, SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 certified, and leverages Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology and customizable multi-approval schemes to provide bespoke custody and liquidity solutions for institutional investors.
Strengthening institutional asset protection
The companies said they have already begun working together on efforts to strengthen the infrastructure for institutional participation in digital assets, but did not provide specific product details. KuCoin Institutional said these developments will become clearer in time, but emphasized the partnership’s purpose to raise standards of security, compliance, and operational oversight in a market that is experiencing accelerated adoption by institutional investors.
The partnership follows KuCoin’s recent brand upgrade, which introduced KuCoin Institutional as the exchange’s institutional business. The launch brings to the fore a suite of services aimed at professional clients, from VIP trading desks and access to deep liquidity, to customized OTC solutions and expanded custody partnerships, and positions the new division as the go-to platform for institutions seeking regulated, enterprise-grade options in the crypto market.
So far, the deal points to broader trends. As institutional investors’ interest in digital assets increases, exchanges and custody providers are enhancing their management, certification, and governance tools to meet the demands of regulated investors. KuCoin Institutional and Ceffu say their partnership aims to meet that demand by combining liquidity and trading capabilities with enhanced custody and compliance infrastructure.
