On May 3, CiDi Games published a roadmap for building a game layer on the Pi Network. Learn about developer SDKs, browser-based game hubs, and tools for external studios to integrate Pi payments into their own games.
Pi co-founders Chengdiao Fan and Nicolas Kokkalis will be speaking at Consensus 2026 in Miami in two days. The conference will be held from May 5th to 7th. The roadmap was almost certainly to be determined before they took the stage.
CiDi begins trials in Q1 2026 without releasing data
CiDi launched the pilot in Q1 2026, but has not disclosed player numbers, engagement numbers, or transaction volumes.
This SDK is designed to handle wallet connectivity, payments, and on-chain functionality, allowing you to connect your game to Pi’s login and wallet system. Everything runs in HTML5, so games load in your browser without downloading.
As Cryptopolitan reported in November 2025, the original Pi Network and CiDi Games partnership was built around the H5 browser platform for casual gaming.
The May 3rd roadmap extends this to external developers as well. Pi Network Ventures, the $100 million fund that backs CiDi, made the studio one of its early investments.
Pi accessibility is a bet against Immutable, Ronin, and Sui
CiDi enters the competitive field. Immutable runs gas-free NFT transactions on Ethereum Layer 2. Sky Mavis operates Ronin, a gaming-focused blockchain with its own wallet and marketplace. Sui Foundation promotes fast performance and flexible asset design.
Pi’s pitch differs in two ways. Accessibility through browser-based games eliminates the need for downloads and high-end devices. The user base was acquired through mobile mining and social features rather than traditional games. Still, competing platforms publish daily active users and transaction volumes. Pi does not publish similar data.
Roadmap will be developed 48 hours before Consensus 2026
Consensus timing is part of the picture. The other one will arrive in 12 days. Pi Network has set a mandatory deadline of May 15th for all mainnet nodes to complete the Protocol 23 upgrade. This marks the first time that support for native smart contracts has been lifted since the launch of open mainnet in February 2025. Non-compliant nodes lose validation privileges.
Tiering to the top: Approximately 184.5 million PI tokens are expected to be unlocked in May. Three milestones overlap within the same 14-day window. Roadmap on May 3rd, consensus debut on May 5th-7th, and Protocol 23 deadline on May 15th. Unlocking is performed on all three.
A roadmap provides direction. Details regarding monetization, scalability, and third-party developer terms remain unclear. The project is still in its early stages as there is no trial data.
The combination of mobile access, instant-play games, and integrated payments could turn the user base into active players and give Pi a real differentiator in blockchain gaming, if it can convince outside developers to build on it.
