Revolut has connected its standalone cryptocurrency exchange, Revolut X, to a third-party AI assistant. This integration allows users to research the market, monitor their accounts, and prepare trades through natural language instructions.
Supported tools include Claude, Gemini, OpenClaw, and Cursor. Revolut has also published universal plugins and command-line interfaces for other compatible AI platforms through the official Revolut X API repository.
Users can ask the AI assistant to retrieve live market data, check account balances, and explain portfolio performance. You can also create price alerts, inspect open positions, and prepare market and limit orders without returning to the Revolut X interface.
This tool supports plain language requests. For example, a trader can ask the assistant to evaluate the performance of a Bitcoin Grid strategy over the past 90 days. The software can return historical results, risk measurements, and possible strategy settings.

Revolut’s repository includes separate tools for authentication, market data, account management, trading, monitoring, and strategy testing. It also describes how users can install plugins on supported assistants without building their own integrations.
Leonid Vasilikov, head of crypto products at the company, said the AI agent offers “much faster workflows, smarter execution, and tighter integration” with the tools traders use.
User must approve each cryptocurrency order
The AI assistant is not given full authority to complete the transaction without a final check. Users are responsible for reviewing and approving each order before Revolut X submits the order for execution.
Revolut also cautioned that it does not operate, recommend or endorse third-party AI platforms. The company said it is not responsible for any losses, missed opportunities, or incorrect transactions caused by the assistant’s faulty output.
This warning raises questions about the extent to which users should rely on natural language instructions when making financial decisions. AI systems can misinterpret prompts, use incomplete market data, or return incorrect calculations.
The Revolut X API documentation advises users to protect the cryptographic keys that allow actual transactions. Credentials remain stored locally, but anyone with access to these keys may take control of connected accounts.
Virtual currency exchange expands proxy trading
Revolut joins a growing list of cryptocurrency companies connecting trading accounts to AI agents. These systems go beyond answering questions by allowing assistants to summon exchange tools and prepare or take financial actions.
As previously reported by crypto.news, Gemini introduced agent trading via the Model Context Protocol. The system enables compatible AI tools to capture order book data, monitor markets, and manage trades based on user-defined rules.
Meanwhile, Coinbase launched a platform for AI agents in June. Its tools allow agents to manage portfolios, place cryptocurrency orders, and make payments through connected accounts and wallets.
Robinhood and Base have also introduced agent-centric tools. Base’s system connects assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, and Cursor to wallet functionality, but users must approve transactions before they can be executed.
Revolut expands cryptocurrency and AI services
Revolut X launched in May 2024 as a desktop exchange for UK retail customers. We have since expanded across the European market, adding mobile access to our target audience in the UK and European Economic Area.
Crypto services in Europe are operated through Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd. This entity is licensed under the European Union’s Cryptoassets Market Framework.
Revolut has also expanded its internal AI services. In April, it began rolling out AIR, a financial assistant, for tasks such as investment tracking, subscription management, and card management.
However, the Revolut X integration takes a different approach. Rather than restricting customers to Revolut’s own assistant, it allows them to connect to external AI tools and exchange functionality.
