RippleX is a developer ecosystem team within Ripple (@Ripple) supports builders. $XRP Ledger (XRPL). This is not a separate company or token, but a division that creates tools, proposes protocol upgrades, provides funding, and runs programs to help outside developers ship XRPL faster. Here’s the interesting part: $XRP Although Ledger does not require Ripple’s permission to run, the majority of Ledger shipments since 2018 can be traced back to this one team. That makes RippleX one of the most influential names in the world. $XRP An ecosystem that casual holders rarely explore.
Where did RippleX come from?
RippleX started operating under a different name. In May 2018, Ripple announced Xpring, an initiative to grow its ecosystem. $XRP As TechCrunch reported at the time, it was made possible through a combination of investment, grants and incubation. In December 2019, Xpring was officially launched as a platform of protocols, tools, and services.
In October 2020, Ripple rebranded Xpring to RippleX in a blog post titled “Hello (again), World!” The mission remained the same. Open blockchain technology is primarily about removing the friction that developers face when integrating. $XRP Incorporate Ledger and Interledger Protocol into your applications.
One more housekeeping procedure followed. Ripple retired its standalone ripplex.io website in 2021 as developers wanted a single, clear portal. Documentation, community resources, and tools have been migrated to xrpl.org, which remains the main hub. The RippleX team itself never went anywhere. It continued with the same name and posting as RippleX (@RippleXDev) with X.
Ripple describes RippleX as a team that provides XRPL developers with the infrastructure, tools, services, programs, and support they need to build for businesses, consumers, institutions, and governments. This unit is led by Marcus Infantar (@markusinfanger), RippleX Senior Vice President J. Ayo Akinyele leads engineering (@ja_acknowledge).
What does RippleX actually build?
Team accomplishments fall into four broad buckets.
- Core protocol behavior. RippleX engineers built XRPL that went live in June 2025 with native NFT support (XLS-20, going live from October 2022), automated market makers on the ledger (XLS-30, going live March 2024), multi-purpose tokens aimed at tokenized real-world assets, allowed domains and DEX functionality for regulated players, and Axelar to handle cross-chain connections. We have driven fixes and standards such as the EVM sidechain. David Schwartz (@joelkatz), the original XRPL architect and current CTO emeritus of Ripple, continues to be a visible voice on the protocol’s efforts.
- Developer tools and infrastructure. This includes official client libraries like xrpl.js and xrpl-py, xrpl.org documentation, public testnet and devnet, and Clio (xrpld, the core server software formerly known as rippled), an optimized API server that stores ledger data more efficiently and reduces request load. Recently, RippleX shipped an AI starter kit for agent-driven payments that supports both. $XRP and $RLUSD.
- Programs and Funding. RippleX is running a bug bounty tied to Ripple’s $1 billion $XRP Ecosystem pledges, along with grants, hackathons, and the annual Apex conference.
- Ecosystem partnership. This unit works on institutional use cases involving tokenization. stable coin include $RLUSDcross-chain interoperability, and emerging AI agent payment standards such as x402.
why is it important $XRP ledger?
Blockchain is only as good as what people build on top of it. XRPL has strong raw materials, including payment finality in 3-5 seconds, fees measured in cents, a DEX built into the protocol, and an unbroken track record dating back to 2012. None of these generate activity on their own. Developers do.
RippleX is the most resourceful contributor tackling exactly that problem. Every SDK the company maintains, every fix it proposes, and every grant it pays reduces the cost of building on XRPL. More builders means more applications in new areas such as payments, DeFi, tokenization, identity, FX, and autonomous AI agent commerce. That activity feeds back into the ledger and the demand for its native assets. $XRPwhich serves as the network’s payment and liquidity layer.
Ripple is $XRP ledger?
No, the distinction is important. Anyone can run an XRPL validator, and protocol changes will only take effect if at least 80% of validators support the fix for two consecutive weeks. of $XRP Leisure Foundation (@XRPLF), independent developers, validators, and the broader open source community manage and maintain the network alongside Ripple.
Ripple, through RippleX, is a major contributor and heavy commercial user of the ledger. It’s not the owner. That amendment has previously been rejected or deferred by validators, and the system is working as designed. The community emphasized its independence in June 2026, with version 3.2.0 officially changing the name of the core server software from rippled to xrpld, removing the last bits of the Ripple brand from the software powering the network.
Eight years after Xpring, RippleX is still being built, from the just-shipped AI agent payment kit to the lending protocol currently in front of validators. $XRP ledger Continue collecting results.
